An activity to cut pasture from the field and carry to a store

This activity will cut pasture from a single defined pasture (graze food store type) and place it in a specified store (animal food store type).

Ensure this Activity is located above any Feed ruminants activity that needs to feed the supplied feed in the same time-step.

The following parameters are used to define this activity

The pasture to collect.

This parameter points to one of the defined Graze food store types in the Graze food store group of the Resources available for this simulation. This entry is a drop down list of available Graze food store types.

The animal food store in which to place the pasture.

This parameter points to one of the defined Animal food store types in the Animal food store group of the Resources available for this simulation. This entry is a drop down list of available Animal food store types.

This value determines how to calculate the amount needed. This is linked to animal feeding activities and provides an easy means of determining the herd feed requirements.

The styles available include

  • Specified daily amount:Closed feed the specified daily amount
  • Proportion of weight:  collect pasture based on a calculated proportion of weight of the specified herd
  • Proportion of potential intake:  collect pasture based on a proportion of the herd's potential intake
  • Proportion of remaining intake required:  this allows the for the calculation of the remaining intake required to satisfy the current herd to be collected
  • Proportion of store available:  collect this proportion of the available pasture

If herd details are required, the herd used is defined using Ruminant group and if omitted will include the entire herd.

The daily value to collect based on the Style selected above.

This parameter will determine what action is taken if there are insufficient resources to perform this activity.

This activity will occur in every time-step unless timers are used to restrict this activity.

This Carry limiter applies to all activities at or below its placement in the simulation tree and will limit the total amount that can be carried across all activities.

This activity is performed during the Do cut and carry event of the setup and time-step events. This ensures the pasture production has been calculated prior to collection. This event also ensures that cut and carry tasks have been performed prior to feeding livestock.
