Job Opportunity – Senior Scientist – Department of Environment and Science

Job Description:

As a senior member of the Paddock to Reef Paddock Modelling team you will validate and apply paddock scale simulation models of agriculture production systems to predict water quality and greenhouse gas fluxes from cropping lands in catchments draining to the Great Barrier Reef. This role contributes to the Paddock to Reef Integrated Monitoring, Modelling & Reporting Program (reefplan.qld.gov.au) which is a collaborative effort involving approximately 20 organisations.

You will work in a team of five other paddock modellers & alongside a larger Catchment Modelling team to predict the benefits of adopting improved land management practices on water quality for the Great Barrier Reef. You will also work closely with monitoring teams to collect & analyse agricultural trial data in relation to water quality & greenhouse gas emissions that can be used to validate paddock models.
