Managing manure

Manure is an important resource created on the farm and can be used for a range of reasons such as fertilising, sold, or to create energy. The management of manure relies on a number of activities in the simulation.

To manage manure you will require a specific Product store type manure to be added to the Product store and named “Manure”. This special resource type is able to track and manage manure lying in the field or general yards (lot), which can be collected.

Manure in the form of dung is automatically created in the Grow ruminants and other animals activities (coming soon) and is produced at the location (e.g. paddock or general yards) where the animals are eating. This is automatically passed to the manure store where it can undergo a decomposition process if time passes before collection. This is a special store that manages manure over time (based upon user defined parameters) and is not available to any activity until it has been collected.

Two activities, Collect all manure and Collect manure from paddock are used to collect manure from all locations, or a specific paddock respectively. They can require Labour resources to perform the collection. Once collected the manure is moved to the available pool in the Manure store and stops decomposing. This pool is now available for other activities to utilise such as selling, fertilising or using in a methane production facility.
