This is a prototype site to test "publishing" data from long term catchment studies in Queensland, AUSTRALIA,
Long term studies are expensive and require strong institutional support, yet archiving and broad access to these data sets is problematic.
Broader access may be of value to others in testing ecological and hydrologic models.
We have attempted to provide sufficient background information, data and links to reference material to allow other users to make sense of these data sets and run models.
We have not followed or proposed formal data protocols. Data has been attached as MS EXCEL, Word, PDF and text files.
These catchment studies formed part of a suite of hydrology and erosion studies initiated by the Queensland Department of Primary Industries in the 1960'sand 1970's.
The three contour bay catchment studies presented here are part of a suite of studies at scales ranging from 1m2 to 50 km2 (Figure below) (DIscussion paper on scale)

The three data sets presented from Queensland, Australia; Greenmount - 18 years, with five ~1 ha catchments (1976-1993);Greenwood - 7 years with five ~0.6 ha catchments (1978-1984)Wallumbilla - 17 years four ~5 ha cathments (1984 -2000)Collectively these site srepresent ~150 catchment years of field hydrology and water quality data directly related to cropping, pastures and soil management. Typical observations made were weather, runoff, soil movement, water quality, cover and roughness associated with a range of crops, tillage practices and pasture. Soil water and agronomic observations were used to compare production aspects of the alternative land management practices. |

| Acknowledgment of use: | Custodians
of data normally expect due acknowledgment
if data is used in significant further analysis. The Hubbard Brook
Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) site, part of a LTER network
is a good source of guidance on using data from other studies and
authors.
Users should read the material in the below link before using data in publications |

| Disclaimer |
Care has been taken to ensure completeness and accuracy in these data sets, but no guarantee is made implicitly or explicitly as to their reliability and should not be used to make critical decisions. As with any physical data collected from systems under the control of natural climate variability, and over an extended period, it is likely that there will be errors and omissions. |

| Feedback: | On the value, both short and long term of this site would be greatly appreciated | |
| Status | As of 5/06/2007, data for Wallumbilla, Greenmount and Greenwood have been updated, and only minor modifications would be expected. |
