APSIM Products and Tools

APSIM

APSIM was developed to simulate biophysical processes in farming systems, particularly as it relates to the economic and ecological outcomes of management practices in the face of climate risk. For more information click here

Whopper Cropper

Whopper Cropper is an easy-to-use computer program designed to provide crop management advisers with the latest technology in cropping systems modelling and seasonal climate forecasting. The highly variable climate of north-eastern Australia makes cropping a complex and risky business that is difficult to study using short-term field trials. The Agricultural Production Systems Research Unit (APSRU) has developed a cropping systems model, Agricultural Production Systems SIMulator (APSIM), that can be used to support improved risk management in cropping systems. Whopper Cropper is the result of many years interaction between researchers and crop management advisers developing this modelling technology and make it widely available. APSoil

APSoil is a database of soil water characteristics enabling estimation of Plant Available Water Capacity for individual soils and crops. It covers many cropping regions of Australia and is regularly updated. It is designed for use in simulation modelling and agronomic practice. Analysis1.xls

Analysis1.xls (116kb) - This spreadsheet, developed by Neil Huth, will import APSIM output files using a user specified filespec. When opening, click "Enable macros" if prompted by Excel.

Analysis2.xls

Analysis2.xls (124kb) - This spreadsheet, developed by Neil Huth, will import specific APSIM output files using a user specified filespec. When opening, click "Enable macros" if prompted by Excel.

TAMET

TAMET (1.91Mb) - This program was originally developed by B. H. Wall of the CSIRO Div. of Tropical Crops and Pastures in 1977. It performs a range of checks on weather files for consistency. It has been adapted to check APSIM .met files and now comes with a GUI.  Documentation.

Control file generator

Control file generator (1.1Mb) - This tool generates APSIM control and parameters files in a factorial combination given a template file and parameter values that are specified in the user interface. Documentation.

TAV_AMP

TAV_AMP (500kb) - Calculate values of annual average ambient temperature (TAV) and annual amplitude in mean monthly temperature (AMP) for an APSIM climate (met) file and insert these values with keywords into the file. Documentation.
